Instead of snow, imagine a Christmas wonderland of sand.

Alviera, a developing master-planned community located in Porac, Pampanga, is creating this unique holiday experience at one of its attractions called the SandBox.

Dubbed the Alviera Christmas Jamboree, this weekend event will transform SandBox into a campsite for family and friends where they can enjoy holiday-themed workshops and festive activities set amid mountains and hills, among others, come November 28 and 29.

For a truly joyful ambiance, the venue will also be decked with countless Christmas displays and parols (lanterns), as well as host live performances and exciting games.

“We are holding this Christmas Jamboree because we want to give Filipinos an opportunity to get together while bringing them closer to nature,” shared Alviera General Manager John Estacio at a media launch on Wednesday at The Mind Museum in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Estacio is especially proud of the fact that Alviera follows the natural landscape of Porac. In a separate interview with The Manila Times, he said, “We actually implement low impact development where we follow the land’s original layout. Sabi nga nila wag natin pakialaman ang luto ng Diyos [as they say, let us not change what the Lord made]. This way, we can predict where water will go, where to plant trees or where to preserve trees.”

Currently, the 1,100-hecatare property is on its first-phase in a three-year development plan. As Ayala Land’s first ever long-term project in the northern part of the Philippines, it aims to replicate successful developments in Metro Manila like Circuit Makati and Nuvali in Laguna.

“We are putting together the components now. We have industrial, residential, and schools—aligned with our vision of sustainability,” noted Estacio. “We also have the SandBox, which now hosts the adventure park and archery school. Come Christmas, we hope that the international kart racetrack will be there already. Soon, it will have a ‘water attraction’ with flowboarding.”

Sandy Christmas
By staging the Christmas-themed camp at Alviera, Estacio hopes that Filipinos will get a glimpse of what to expect within the property. Thus, he is encouraging interested parties to head on to SandBox via two packages, the Day Dasher and Christmas Camper.

The Day Dasher is perfect for families and friends who want to go on a nearby day trip outside Metro Manila. It offers daytime activities at the Christmas Cookie Corner that runs cookie decoration demos; the Merry Angel-Making workshops for traditional Filipino ornaments; Parol-Making Sessions; and the exciting Quiz Kringle, Alviera’s holiday version of a quiz bee.

Come nighttime, attendees—both young and young at heart—can learn dancing with LED at Prancing Poi booth; listen to carols from top chorale groups; sing-along at the Merry-oke Sessions; stargaze at the Twinkle Tracking; ahve “groufie” at Saint Nick’s Wishing Corner; and troop to Starlight Cinema for heart-warming Christmas film screenings.

Besides the said activities, the Day Dasher package also comes with an all-access pass to SandBox adventures including the Philippines’ tallest swing, a high-rope walk, the country’s first roller coaster zipline, an adventure tower, an outdoor archery, and ATV rides.

First opened in April 201, SandBox has seen a steady flow of visitors from Metro Manila, Central and Northern Luzon. “We have received approximately 10,000 visitors a month,” reported Jennifer Chua, Alviera marketing manager.

As for the Christmas Camper, it has all of Day Dasher’s offerings, but because it includes an overnight-stay, the package features exclusive festivities like a welcome bonfire with s’mores at the campsite and ukulele jam session while enjoying hot tsokolate and biscochio.

Finally, a Christmas breakfast buffet awaits them the next morning, as well as Christmas stockings filled with surprise holiday goodies.

Both packages include roundtrip transportation from Manila to Alviera, travel insurance, a camp bag, and a Christmas passport that serves as an event journal that contains raffle stubs for exciting prizes.

Aliviera partnered with Travel Factor and Coleman in putting up this truly unique Christmas Jamboree.
