Renowned Australian sports performance specialist Wayne Goldsmith is in the country to hold a series of swimming coaching seminars at the PhilSports swimming complex in Pasig City.
Goldsmith, 50, will discuss among 50 national coaches and swimmers from Luzon a variety of topics among them talent and maturity, coaching, team leadership and player group abilities.
“The Philippine Swimming Incorporated (PSI) has decided to get elite coaches to help us achieve our goals. We have dreamt of this long time ago – to give our coaches additional knowledge about the sport to improve their coaching techniques,” PSI Executive Director Reina Rose Suarez told The Manila Times on Thursday.
“So far, our players are improving. This kind of seminar will help them a lot to improve better,” she added.
After Manila, Goldsmith will also bring his training camp to Iloilo on May 22 and 24.
Goldsmith has worked with the Australian Institute of Sport, Australian Rugby League as well as with Olympian Michael Phelps.
The last leg of the seminar will be on May 25 to 27 at the PhilSports in Pasig where age-group swimmers and qualified Asian Games tankers will undergo training with the renowned coach.
