Veteran campaigner Roberto Gomez settled for the runner-up honors in the inagural 2014 Manny Pacquiao 10-Ball Championships held in General Santos City. Gomez absorbed a heartbreaking 12-13 loss to 2013 world 9-ball champion Thorsten Hohmann of Germany in the finals of the tournament participated by more than 90 cue masters. Hohmann pocketed the $12,000 top purse while Gomez got a $6,000 consolation prize. Hohmann made it to the finals by ousting unheralded Filipino bet Romeo Silvano, 11-8, while Gomez survived compatriot Dennis Orcollo, 11-9, in the other semifinal pairing. Silvano and Orcollo, nonetheless, went home with $2,500 each.
