THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is set to recognize its traffic enforcer who was photographed by a netizen giving food to a street child.
Francis Manalo, chief of the MMDA Traffic Discipline Office said they are now preparing the report to recommend to MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino to give recognition to traffic officer Reynaldo Romano.
“We are now preparing the report to give recognition to Romano because we give due recognition to our people who do good things,” Manalo said.
Romano, who is already 12 years in service, was photographed by Mar Cheri Durante Galvez giving food to a street child at Tandang Sora U-Turn slot on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
“A traffic officer was giving food to a little child who was begging for alms. I just really think it’s worth sharing,” Galvez said in a post in her Facebook account together with the photograph.
Romano’s photograph became viral in the net as it was shared by 3,734 and liked by 30,812 people as of 8:20 a.m. of March 14.
Top Gear Philippines and the MMDA also posted in their Facebook pages the viral image of Romano.
Netizens called the MMDA to acknowledge the good deeds of the traffic enforcer, who lives in Rodriguez, Rizal.
According Romano, a street child approached him on March 12 begging for food while manning the traffic along Commonwealth Avenue.
