LUBAO, Pampanga: A recent pronouncement of Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda regarding her support to Liberal Party (LP) presidential bet Manuel “Mar” Roxas 2nd is not yet final because the local party, which she founded, has not come up with a decision on who to support.
This was according to Pampanga First District board member Crisostomo Garbo, who said Kambilan, the local party of Pineda, has not yet decided on who to back up in the coming May 9 elections.
“[There’s no decision yet that the party will support Roxas], and there will be a final decision,” said Garbo, who is running for mayor of Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
He added that Pineda or “Nanay” to her political allies, as titular head of their local party, listens to plans and programs of all those seeking the presidency first before coming up with a party stand.
The incumbent Pampanga governor is an ally of former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who is under hospital arrest for graft-related cases filed by the Aquino administration.
Garbo said that based on surveys that they have been conducting in Mabalacat City, Grace Poe is leading the race, but she is neck-and-neck with Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
Poe once again visited the province on Sunday to visit local officials of the province who have been pushing her candidacy and also to let her youngest daughter Nika see the Lubao international hot air balloon festival.
