• Government troops arrest suspected KFR leader in Zamboanga City


    COMBINE government security forces arrested a suspected leader of a notorious kidnap for ransom (KFR) group operating in Western Mindanao region dawn on Thursday, police reports said.

    Initial reports reaching the PNP national operations center in Camp Crame identified the arrested gang leader as Jun Akilan Y Jalal alias “Temeng”.

    The reports said Jalal was arrested by combined military, police and operatives of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) at around 3am Thursday at his suspected safe house on Barangay Talabaan, Zamboanga City.

    Jalal was arrested by government security forces based on a warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention issued by the court, the reports said.

    The reports said Jalal was he was among the top most wanted persons in the Western Mindanao region and suspected leader of KFR group operating in the said region.

    Seized from the suspect’s possession were one .45 caliber Remington pistol with one magazine and seven live ammunition, the reports said.

    The reports said the suspect is now in the custody of the Zamboanga City police office for proper disposition before turning over to the court that issued his arrest warrant. ANTHONY VARGAS
