Despite the resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan authorizing him to seek other possible legal remedies to speed up the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) on the Malampaya share, Governor Jose Alvarez would rather leave the next move to the national government. In an interview, Alvarez said he does not want to move ahead of the national government, and there is really no need to make fresh manifestations since Palawan could stand on its own without the Malampaya share for the time being. The governor added that the provincial government has already prepared the budget for the expected projects and programs in the province for the next three years. He said that the province will not depend on the Malampaya share because the SC is not ready to make any decision yet. Alvarez added that if President Benigno Aquino 3rd sees that Palawan can make development and progress without depending on the gas share, then the President might decide to give Palawan its share.
