ILOILO CITY: The city business permit and licensing office (BPLO) will impose a 25-percent penalty on all those who will pay taxes after today’s deadline. Norman Tabud, BPLO chief, said that they will entertain the business tax payers until 9 in the evening to make sure that everyone is accommodated. By Wednesday, the government will start imposing a 25 percent penalty on tax. A total of 3,500 applications for renewal of permits are expected this year. Tabud also said that his office will accept applicants for new business registration starting on the second week of February. The city is expecting a surge of applications this year, noting that applications may reach 80,000. Last year, the BPLO received only 30,000 applications.
