Govt invites bids for LRT-2 extension

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is inviting interested bidders for the P2.4-billion contract for the civil works of Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) East (Masinag) extension project.

In a bid bulletin, the DOTC said the project involves the construction of an elevated guideway/viaduct for the extension of the existing LRT Line 2 System by 3.9 kilometers eastward from the existing Santolan Station along Marcos Highway, Pasig City, terminating at Station 27 at the intersection of Marcos Highway and Sumulong Highway at Masinag, Cainta, Rizal.

It said completion of works is required within 540 calendar days.

DOTC said the project will be funded from the 2014 General Appropriations Act (GAA) in the sum of P2.4 billion, which is the approved budget for the contract (ABC).

It said bids received in excess of the ABC shall be automatically rejected at bid opening.

DOTC said that the issuance and availability of the bid documents is from
September 24 to November 4, 2014, the pre-bid conference is on October 7, 2014 and the deadline of submission and opening of bids is on November 4, 2014 at 2:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the DOTC said that four companies have so far responded to the invitation issued by DOTC calling for interested bidders for the operations and maintenance of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2).

DOTC has set a November 20 deadline for the submission of pre-qualification documents and bidding is scheduled for the second quarter of 2015.

The four potential bidders who already bought the needed bid documents are San Miguel Corp., GT Capital, Marubeni, and Ayala-MPIC.

LRT-2 is a 13.8-kilometer mass transit line that traverses five cities in Metro Manila—Pasig, Marikina, Quezon, San Juan and Manila.
