MEMBERS of the government peace panel who met with their counterparts from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, have returned to Manila, hopeful that a peace agreement between them will soon be implemented.

Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza on Tuesday said the initial meeting of the two peace panels ended on a positive note.

Both parties, Dureza added, vowed to cooperate in ensuring efficient enforcement of the agreement.

Among those who arrived with him aboard a Malaysia Airlines flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar.

A joint statement signed by panel chief Irene Santiago of the government and Mohagher Iqbal of the MILF showed the two parties agreeing on substantive aspects of a peace and development roadmap.
