BACOLOD CITY: Maj. General Jon Aying, Philippine Army 3rd Infantry Division commander, during his visit to Guihulngan, Negros Oriental recently, called on communist rebels to surrender and receive cash and livelihood rewards. Under President Rodrigo Duterte’s order, surrendering platoons or front organizations will be given safe conduct and a house and lot with free livelihood and training’s for skills development. Aying said the former rebels would be allowed to keep their firearms but will be profiled for accounting purposes. He explained this is for the returnees’ self-defense should loyal rebel members come after them. Individuals would be given the same package but with P150,000 cash from the Comprehensive Local Integration Program and another P50,000 for every high-powered firearm they surrender. A P100,00 reward will also be given to those who facilitate the surrender of rebels Aying added that P100,000 is waiting for any information which would lead to the capture, arrest, or neutralization of any rebels from the New People’s Army, local Islamic extremist groups, and private armed groups.
