Govt slow response to ‘Nona’ victims hit

THE Anakpawis party-list on Thursday lambasted the Aquino government for not giving priority to Typhoon Nona (Melor) victims in Northern Samar, Sorsogon, Mindoro, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija.

“This administration truly never learned from the deadly and destructive effects of previous typhoons especially super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). It continues to make a lackluster performance in terms of speedy relief and construction effort,” Rep. Fernando Hicap said in a statement.

According to Hicap, thousands of families affected by Nona will spend Christmas Eve in evacuation areas.

“We cannot expect that this government will change its way of treating calamity victims, if it really sincere helping calamity victims, it already started years ago,” he said.

The lawmaker also blasted the government for including Liberal Party standard-bearer Manuel “Mar” Roxas in its relief operation in Catarman, Northern Samar on Wednesday.

They [typhoon victims]need adequate services, fast relief and rehabilitation work not high profile relief stunt which is clearly part of the Aquino government’s premature campaigning in favor of their presidential bet Mar Roxas,” Hicap said.

  1. Did you expect anything from the LP GROUP OTHER THAN POLITICKING AND FRAUD! Another thing comes to mind on this situation. Poor people live in the squatters areas are the first to demand things. Seems like you all expect new house, monthly support (money) and other things for free from the government. Learn to support yourself, get a job, education, etc.ooopppssss thats hard work I forgot, you want it for free complements of tax payers and the corrupt government!!
