Govt troops arrest four ASG members in Sulu

The Philippine Marines and the police captured four alleged members of the notorious Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) at a checkpoint in Barangay Bungkaung, Patikul, Sulu, on Friday night.

Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo, said the checkpoint operation was launched after the Marine Batallion Landing Team -9 received a tip that some ASG members were sighted at the main service road in Patikul town. The Marines team immediately coordinated with the Patikul Police in setting up the dragnet.

The four, identified as Jumli Pulah, Hassan Jupakal, Ingki Abudula and Bashir Alih, were on board an unlicensed silver Mitsubishi Strada when they were captured. Pulah reportedly has a standing warrant of arrest issued by a court in Jolo, Sulu.

Recovered from their vehicle were two 20-gallon containers of ammonium nitrate, three MK2 grenades, nylon wires, batteries and other valuable items. Anthony Vargas
