Malacañang on Friday said the government will not tolerate the use of government resources to advance the candidacy of Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Manuel Roxas 2nd or any administration candidate.
Palace spokesman Edwin Lacierda made the statement after a photo surfaced on social media showing a government vehicle transporting campaign materials of Roxas.
Lacierda said the Palace is expecting the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to act on reports of campaign violations.
“We’re glad that citizens were vigilant. There is no excuse for the use by the local government of their vehicle by any supporter for any candidate,” said Lacierda.
“The Comelec has the responsibility and the mandate to act accordingly,” the Palace official added.
The photo, posted on the Facebook page of Citizens Against Crime, Poverty and Corruption (CACPC), shows a black Toyota Hilux with plate number SKD 417 carrying tarpaulins that bear the name of Roxas and the words Daang Matuwid.
The photo has garnered over 18,000 shares.
