Grab taxi unit suspended

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Tuesday suspended for 30 days the operation of a Teresita taxi with plate number UVG 290 after its driver allegedly threatened a passenger with a metal pipe. A social media post of a one Jonathan Gayondato Barcelon caught the attention of LTFRB Board Member Atty. Ariel Inton. In his post, Barcelon said that he and taxi driver Alfie Paloma had an argument over traffic, routes and taxi pooling. Paloma allegedly got mad, drove fast to a dark area in Pasay City, pulled out a metal pipe and ordered him to get off. A barangay kagawad (watchman) pacified them saving Barcelon from further harm. Paloma did not attend the hearing at the LTFRB, prompting the order of the taxi unit’s suspension. GrabTaxi, meanwhile said they have suspended the contract of Teresita Taxi operator and its driver pending their own investigation.
