SANTA BARBARA, Iloilo: Partido Galing at Puso presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe on Monday denied accepting a total of P150-million campaign donation from a casino operator based in Macau.
According to Poe, there is not truth behind the claim and even challenged those behind the report to present proof that would back their allegation.
“Bakit ko naman gagawin yan? Unang-una, malinaw na malinaw iyan sa batas. Wala akong tinatanggap na ganyan [Why would I do that, that’s unlawful. I have not accepted such donation]” she said.
Poe added that she could come up with legal action against those behind the unfounded report, but she would rather not because it could be part of the campaign strategy of her rivals.
She said could only hope for the public to be more discerning and mindful of real issues facing the country.
Meanwhile, Poe just dismissed the dissenting opinion of Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio on her disqualification case is not affecting her because she knows that majority of justices voted in her favor.
“Just let him [Carpio] express his opinion, because we already have the collective wisdom of the Supreme Court as basis,” she said in reaction to Carpio’s opinion.
