Great Ocean road race wide open, says Cavendish

GEELONG, Australia: British sprint great Mark Cavendish said on Tuesday it would be hard to predict the winner of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race this weekend, but added that he hoped to put in a good performance. Cavendish, the winner of 26 Tour de France stages, is one of the top draws at the second edition of the Victorian road race on January 31, and will compete for the first time with his new squad Team Dimension Data. Belgian Gianni Meersman (Etixx-QuickStep) won the inaugural Evans title last year.
