Defending champion De La Salle University and Far Eastern University (FEU) will be disputing the solo lead when they face each other in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 77 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The game is set at 4 p.m.
Seeing action in the opening game at 2 p.m. are University of the Philippines (UP) and University of Santo Tomas (UST).
La Salle and FEU are sharing the top spot with identical 7-2 marks while National University (NU) and Ateneo de Manila University are tied in third with 7-3 each. University of the East is at fifth (5-5) followed by UST (4-5), UP (1-8) and Adamson University (0-10).
The Green Archers are in a seven-game winning streak after a 0-2 start the season.
Their latest victims were the Fighting Maroons whom they demolished last Saturday via 86-65 win.
Four Archers were in double-figure in that game with Almond Vosotros scoring 21 points. Jeron Teng, Jason Perkins and Arnold Van Opstal contributed 15, 13 and 12, respectively.
The Tamaraws are also rampaging with a four-game winning run including their 66-55 rout of last year’s runner-up UST and 74-70 overtime victory over erstwhile co-leader NU.
Mark Belo, Roger Pogoy, Mike Tolomia, Alejandro Inigo and Anthony Hargrove are expected to deliver for the Tamaraws to duplicate their 82-77 win against the Green Archers in the first round.
