THE Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, is opening a graduate course for engineers interested in renewable energy. The MMSU officer in charge-president, Prima Franco, said the university is offering a green energy engineering course through its Professional Science Master’s Program in Renewable Energy Engineering. He added that the course, the first in Southeast Asia, is best offered in Ilocos Norte, the province being in the heart of renewable energy facilities. The two-year master’s program is in collaboration with Research Triangle Institute and Energy Development Corporation under a Memorandum of Agreement. Susan Brems, USAID mission director for the Philippines, Pacific Islands and Mongolia, said the partnership is a significant achievement that supports the mutual goal to propel the country to achieve and sustain broad-based economic growth and development.
