Another grenade was thrown at a Manila police station on Thursday but the explosive turned out to be a dud. Senior Police Officer 3 Benito Macaraeg was on duty when an unidentified person aboard a gray Toyota RAV 4 lobbed the grenade at the Santa Ana Police Station 6 around 1 a.m. He said the RAV 4, which had no license plate and had the window at the driver side rolled down, passed the police station about six times before the grenade was thrown. The incident was captured by the closed-circuit television camera and immediately, the Explosives and Ordnance Division of the Manila Police Department (MPD) arrived to detonate the grenade safely. The grenade, an M26 fragmentation type, was too old to explode, according to the MPD Bomb Squad personnel. Four other grenades have been thrown at the MPD since last year. Many believedthat the perpetrators were members of a drug syndicate who wanted to harass the Manila police.
