• Group, British Embassy sign pact to train disabled

THE New Vois Association of the Philippines (NVAP) and the British Embassy on Tuesday signed an agreement that aims to change the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) through meaningful and sustainable mass-based solutions.

The British Embassy-NVAP PWD Empowerment Project, aptly named “Implementation of an Inclusive Development Agenda Anchored on Political Participation and Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities” will facilitate the transfer of technical skills to PWDs.

The project is anchored on Executive Order 417, signed in 2005, which assures the availability of technical, financial and marketing support to PWD entrepreneurs.

The law intends to raise the living standards of PWDs through economic independence. It mandates that 10 percent of the procurement of all government agencies must be sourced from products made by PWDs whenever available.

The project will build capacity and raise awareness of the government agencies as well as the PWD sector on the implementation of an inclusive development agenda anchored on EO 417 and similar other laws.
