• Group slams ‘cardboard’ justice vs drug suspects

A HUMAN rights group slammed the “cardboard justice” meted against alleged drug users or pushers, adding that most of those killed are poor. Jhay De Jesus, spokesman for the True Colors Coalition and a member of Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya, said corpses wind up in every part of Metro Manila, some bearing placards accusing them of being drug pushers or drug users. De Jesus lamented that the war on drugs is being used by certain individuals for their own benefit. He called on government to observe due process. ‘We should not forgetthat under the law,m a person is deemed innocent untilproven guilty,” he stressed. De Jesus said while they believe that there is a huge problem on illegal drugs, killing is not the only solution.
