GREEN groups and energy advocates have expressed dismay over the alleged “midnight exemption” given to local coal mining companies from the new coal tax approved by both Houses of Congress.

The Center for Energy, Ecology and Development (CEED) said the Power for People Coalition will award a “King Coal” trophy to DM Consunji, Inc. (DMCI) “to signify its influence over lawmakers and his company’s 40-year coal addiction.”
