University of Santo Tomas (UST) will be gunning for one of the two twice-to-beat incentives in Final Four when it faces Adamson University today in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 78 men’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum.

UST takes on Adamson at 2 p.m. while De La Salle University battles University of the Philippines (UP) at 4 p.m.

So far, three teams are already assured of Final Four berths – Far Eastern University (10-2), UST (10-3) and Ateneo de Manila University (9-4), leaving defending champion National University (6-7), La Salle (5-7) and University of the East (4-8) battling it out for the last ticket to the semifinals.

UP (3-9) and Adamson (3-10) are already out of the Final Four race.

The Growling Tigers must win against the Soaring Falcons to earn the first twice-to-beat card.

They are coming off an 85-76 huge win over the Tamaraws with skipper Kevin Ferrer and Came¬roo¬nian Karim Abdul combining for 44 points.

“We will prepare versus Adam¬son. We will go hard dahil kahit na out na sila, lalaban pa rin yan para maging maganda ang pag¬tatapos nila this season,” said UST head coach Bong Dela Cruz.

Besides Ferrer and Abdul, the Growling Tigers will be banking on Ed Daquioag as well as Louie Vigil and Mario Bonleon, who both scored 13 points against FEU.

The Soaring Falcons, on the other hand, are expected to go all-out to have a graceful exit this season.

Adamson notched its third win at the expense of UE, 74-71, as Cameroonian Pape Sarr sizzled with a double-double 22-point, 20-rebound showing.

“I just told them that we need to win [against UE]to gain respect. Hopefully, maging maganda rin ang laro namin against UST. Sana hindi kami mabaon,” said Adamson mentor Mike Fermin.
