The “Guhit” group of eight outstanding Filipino painters and sculptors will open the Salu-Salo exhibit on April 12 at the BenCab Museum in Baguio City. Running until June 8, painter and art educator Araceli Limcaco Dans heads the other exhibiting artists, which includes Aladin Antiqueño, Angelo Baldemor, Felipe Mayoya, Justin Nuyda, Azor Pazcoguin, Janice Liuson-Young and Tito Sanchez.
Unprecedented in other art exhibits, the Guhit artists will conduct art workshops at the Baguio Country Club Training Center simultaneously with the exhibit. On April 14, Antiqueño will conduct a class on basic drawing; Sanchez on bas relief sculpture; and Liuson-Young on portrait drawing.
On April 15, Barbra Dans-Paguia will present “Art by children with special needs,” which will be follwed by Dans’ discussion of “The importance of art in values development of children.”
Beneficiary of the art exhibit is the Sagip Buhay Foundation of the Philippine General Hospital, in keeping with the Guhit Artists’ slogan “Collect an Art Piece and Save a Life.”
