ABS-CBN’s Star Magic artists dominated the 46th Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Entertainment Awards, from the evening’s production down to the roster of winners.
To begin with, the annual showbiz gathering was hosted by four of the network’s homegrown talents in Jodi Sta Maria, Jake Cuenca, Julia Barretto and Matteo Guidicelli, while Your Face Sounds Familiar personalities Jolina Magdangal, Melai Cantiveros, NyoyVolante and Jed Madela also lent their time as presenters.
But of course, the awards proved to be the biggest coup by Star Magic at the event, bagging 12 major wins for its talents, as well as ABS-CBN’s top-rating drama shows, which starred Coco Martin, Julia Montes and Jodi Sta Maria, among others.
Leading the pack of winners is Piolo Pascual, who bagged the Box Office King Award for the movie Starting Over Again.
John Lloyd Cruz took home the Film Actor of the Year Award, while fellow Star Magic talent and girlfriend Angelica Panganiban took home the Bert Marcelo Lifetime Achievement Award at the young age of 28.
The roster of glittering winners is rounded off by Xian Lim and Kim Chiu as Prince and Princess of Philippine Movies and TV; Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo as Teen King and Teen Queen of Philippine Movies and TV; Liza Soberano as Most Promising Female Star of the Year; Maja Salvador as Promising Female/ Singer Performer; Gimme 5 as the Most Promising Recording/ Performing Group; and Inigo Pascual and Julia Barretto as the Most Promising Love Team for their movie Relax Its Just Pag-ibig.
ABS-CBN’s Ikaw Lamang and Be Careful with My Heart also won Top Rating Primetime Drama and Top Rating Daytime Drama respectively.
