The provincial government of Guimaras is planning to file charges this week against Seen Sam Shipping Company over the oil leakage from its ill-fated cargo vessel MV Sportivo. Engr. Raymund Moderes, executive assistant to Gov. Samuel Gumarin, said they are planning to sue Seen Sam Shipping for negligence and are seeking compensation. He added that Seen Sam has yet to take any significant action to clean up the oil leaking from its vessel. The firm has failed to look for a contractor that will salvage the Sportivo from the depths but has employed about 40 people to help in cleanup operations through a cash-for-work program.
