THE number of persons arrested for violating the election gun ban continues to spike on Wednesday with more civilians arrested since its implementation on January 10, 2016. The PNP National Election Monitoring and Action Center (NEMAC) said latest record is at 1,403 of which 1,348 are civilians; 19 security guards; 10 policemen; 14 government employees; five of other law enforcement agency; four are of the Armed Forces (AFP) and two militiamen. Seized were 1, 262 various types of firearms. PNP Spokesman, Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor said violators will be charged for violation of the Omnibus Election Code that carries a penalty of up to six years imprisonment.
