• Gun ban violators near 4,000 mark


    THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said that the number of persons arrested for violating the election gun ban is nearing the 4000 mark with a week left before the synchronized election on May 9. Figures released by the PNP National Election Monitoring Action Center (NEMAC) said arrested reaches 3, 384 composed of: civilians – 3,689; security guards – 43; police personnel – 29; elected government officials – 26; military personnel – 28. A total of 3, 101 assorted types of firearms since Jan. 10 that signals the start of the election period that will last on June 8, 2016.
