THE PNP National Election Monitoring and Action Center (NEMAC) placed to 1,039 the number of persons arrested for violating the Election Gun Ban that took effect on January 10. Of those arrested 1,000 are civilians, 15 are security guards, 10 are elected officials, seven police personnel, and two government militiamen. A total of 839 assorted firearms, with 9, 387 deadly weapons, 289 bladed weapons, 48 grenades, 31 firearms replica, and 20 other types of explosives were seized. PNP Spokesman, Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor said those arrested will be facing charges for violation of the Omnibus Election Code that carries a penalty of up to six years imprisonment.
