• GUN DEALERS HIT NEW LICENSING SYSTEM

    0

THE Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers (AFAD) on Wednesday criticized the Philippine National Police (PNP) due to problems in licensing new firearms imposed by the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO). The glitches in the computer system of FEO forced the group to call off its annual gun show this year. AFAD president Jethro Dionisio said in a memorandum that the Board cancelled the 22nd Defense and Sporting Arms Show scheduled next month “due to unresolved issues surrounding the IRR (impelenting rules and regulations) of RA 10591 (the Comprehensive Firearms and Amunition Regulation Act)”. Dionisio said the new computer system at the PNP-FEO which is supposed to be the new database of new and exisiting licensed firearms owners is not yet functioning, thus the FEO has no capability to register new firearms.
