CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga: Police agents arrested the leader of a dreaded gun-for-hire group, also a suspect in the killing of a Korean businessman in Pampanga, on Tuesday in Mabalacat City.
The police seized the suspect, identified as Victor Rivera, during a raid into a house on San Bernardo Street, Villa Teodora, Dau, Mabalacat City.
City Police chief Supt. Rudy Lacadin said Rivera is the alleged leader of a gun-for-hire group operating in Pampanga and Angeles City, victimizing prominent families and foreign nationals.
Police said Rivera is also the prime suspect in the killing of Park Youn Jae, owner of Royal Hotel at Royal Garden Estate in Angeles City, last September.
The Korean businessman was in his office with another Korean national at Moggongwa Building in Angeles City when a lone assassin shot him in broad daylight.
With the arrest of Rivera, police said, two cases of murder have been solved. However, no details about the other killing incident were given.
Rivera’s arrest was covered by a search warrant issued by Judge Celso Baguio of RTC Branch 34 of Gapan City, Nueva Ecija.
Regional Intelligence Division-Special Concern Unit 3 (RID-SCU3) also confiscated several high-powered firearms, ammunitions and explosives from Rivera’s house.
