A 70-year-old farmer facing rape charges was shot to death by three still unidentified gunmen on Tuesday morning in Agusan del Sur, police reports said on Thursday.
Reports at the Philippine National Police operations center in Camp Crame identified the fatality as Gardose Castromayor alias “Roming,” 70, of Barangay New Visayas, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.
Investigation revealed that the victim was at his rice field in the same village when three still unidentified gunmen approached and shot him several times hitting him in different parts of his body.
The reports said that the victim died on the spot.
Investigation also revealed that the victim has a pending case before the Prosecutor’s Office for rape of a minor, the reports said.
The reports said elements of the San Francisco Municipal police station are investigating the incident for identification and arrest of the suspects. Revenge was eyed as possible motive for the killing.
