ZAMBOANGA CITY: A gunman shot and killed two people and wounded a village chieftain in an attack in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga Sibugay, police said on Saturday. Police identified the fatalities as Jose Samosa, 48, and Margarita Banguanga, 53, while her husband Carmelo, the village chieftain of Cayamcam in Tungawan town, was injured. Chief Superintendent Miguel Antonio, the regional police chief, has ordered an investigation into the attack which occurred on Thursday. He said the victims were resting on the porch of Banguanga’s house when the gunman arrived and without warning opened fire on the group. No individual claimed responsibility for the attack and police were investigating the motive of the killings.
