TWO school teachers were reportedly killed and one was wounded after they were waylaid by still unidentified gunmen late on Monday afternoon in a remote village in Basilan province, police reports said on Tuesday.
Report reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) national operations center in Camp Crame identified the two slain teachers as Gloria Saavedra and Rodolfo Saavedra and wounded was their co-teacher Joy Cubico.
The reports said that the incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on Monday along a road in Barangay Maloong in Lamitan City.
The three were on board a motorcycle and were on their way home from a school in Isabela City when they were waylaid by the gunmen and shot them.
The reports said that personnel of Lamitan City Police are investigating the said incident to determine the motive and identity of the gunmen behind the attack. Anthony Vargas
