OPERATIVES of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Monday afternoon have arrested a known gun runner during an operation in a remote village in Liloan town in Cebu province, a police official said on Tuesday.
CIDG Chief, PSupt. Victor Deona said Richard Toledo, was collared by police operatives in a safe house in Brgy. Poblacion in Lilioan town.
The CIDG in Cebu under Senior Supt. Marlon Tayaba also identified Toledo as the leader of the Toledo Gunrunning Group that supplies firearms to a local drug group in the province.
The suspect eluded several police dragnet operations until Monday when CIDG agents swooped into one of his safehouses.
Deona added investigators are looking into the sources of firearms that Toledo supplies to local drug groups in the area.
Toledo is now detained at the CIDG Region 7 custodial facility facing charges for violation of R.A 10591 (Firearms and Ammunition Law).
In a separate report, Tayaba said that their operatives have also arrested on Monday evening a man wanted for qualified theft who is using fictitious name and documents to evade law enforcers.
Tayaba identified the fugitive as Josue Magusara who was nabbed by their operatives at the vicinity of Ayala Mall at Cebu Business Park in Cebu City.
Tayaba said in his report that Magusara was arrested by virtue of an Alias Warrant of Arrest for Qualified Theft issued by Judge Teresita Galanida of the 7th Regional Trial Court (RTC) Br. 56 of Mandaue City.
