Seasoned competitors Jean Vasquez Caluscusin and Mikhaela Silverio topped their respective divisions in the rhythmic all-around event of the Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission (POC-PSC) Philippine National Games gymnastics competition at the Rizal Memorial Gymnastics Hall in Manila.
Caluscusin garnered a total score of 35.925 on 9.35 in ribbon, 9.30 in clubs, 8.65 in ball and 8.625 in hoop to claim the top spot in the women’s rhythmic gymnastics all-around category.
Former national junior champion Anica Joy Sirios wound up second with 34.750 points while 2012 Philippine National Games champion Mary Carmeli Garovillo settled for bronze with 34.425 points.
For her part, Silverio dominated the junior’s rhythmic gymnastics all-around class after earning 35.925 total points.
Kimberly Paler took the silver with 31.125 points while AJ Melgar fell to third also with 31.125 points. Paler grabbed the No. 2 position by virtue of a “clean routine” rule.
The baseball competition, on the other hand, will begin on Friday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium with National University taking Titan at 8 a.m., International Little League Association of Manila meeting Rizal Technological University at 10 a.m. and De La Salle University facing Angeles University at 1 p.m.
Other participants are Ateneo de Manila University, Adamson University, University of Santo Tomas, National Youth Team, Philippine Air Force, Philab and Marikina All Stars.
