Hamed Haddadi led Iran to a resounding 75-62 win over South Korea in the quarterfinals of the 28th FIBA Asia Championship Olympic qualifying tournament at the Changsha Social Worker gymnasium in Changsha, China.
The 7’2 former National Basketball Association player finished with 18 points via 8-of-13 shooting in the field plus 14 rebounds. Oshin Sahakian notched 12 points plus seven rebounds while Hamed Afagh posted 11 points also for Iran.
The Iranian team is under the tutelage of German coach Dirk Bauermann.
Iran could face host China in the semifinals that was still playing against India in the other quarterfinals match at press time.
Korean Moon Tae-young and Kim Jong-kyu posted 10 points each for the Koreans.
The Iranians established a 23-8 lead in the first quarter and sustained a double-digit advantage until the final buzzer.
