HOUSTON left-handed guard James Harden believes the arrival of 6’11 all-star center Dwight Howard will give the Rockets enough edge to compete for title this coming 2013-2014 National Basketball Association (NBA) season.
“I’m really excited for the next season playing with the best big man in the game,” said Harden, referring to former Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers big man Dwight Howard. “Dwight is a great talent and he is hungry for a title.”
The 6’5 flamboyant Harden also told reporters during NBA 3X press conference on Thursday at the Sofitel Hotel that it is nice to be back in the country and very thankful to all the Filipino fans for supporting the Rockets.
“I’m excited to be back here. I didn’t know I have a fan base here. I’m so happy to be back.”
Harden, who played first in the Oklahoma Thunder before being traded to the Houston Rockets last year, averaged 25.9 points along with five assists and four rebounds last year for the Rockets.
Besides Harden, New Orleans Pelicans guard Eric Gordon and the high-energy Indiana Pace-mates and Grizz, the Memphis Grizzlies mascot, are also in town promoting the NBA 3X.
The 3X NBA tournament will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall and at the PICC Tent from July 26 to 28 with tournament finals to be held at the Mall of Asia Music Hall on July 28. An NBA Cares activity will also be conducted on July 28.
This is also the second time that the long beard Harden visited the country. He was part of the Ultimate All-Star Weekend in 2011.
