Harden: Rockets will be competitive with Howard’s arrival

Houston Rockets’ bearded guard James Harden believes the arrival of 6’11 all-star center Dwight Howard will give the Rockets a big edge in the 2013-2014 National Basketball Association season.

“I’m really excited for the next season playing with the best big man in the game,” said Harden, referring to former Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers big man Dwight Howard. “Dwight is a great talent and he is hungry for a title.”

The 6’5 flamboyant Harden also told reporters during NBA 3X3 press conference Thursday it was nice to be back in the Philippines and thanked Filipino fans for supporting Houston.

“I’m excited to be back here. I didn’t know I have a fan base here. I’m so happy to be back,” he said.

Harden was in Manila for the Ultimate All-Star Weekend two years ago, joining NBA stars like Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans.

The lefthanded guard, who first played for the Oklahoma Thunder before being traded to the Houston Rockets last year, averaged 25.9 points, five assists and four rebounds in the last NBA season for the Rockets, who made the playoff round.

The 3X3 NBA tournament will be played at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall and at the PICC Tent from July 26 to 28, 2013. The finals will be at SM MOA Music Hall on July 28.

An NBA Cares activity will also be conducted on July 28.
