• HD Spikers beat Cargo Movers for third straight win

    Invitational Conference titlist Cignal HD outplayed F2 Logistics via a 27-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19 decision to top the Pool A of the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan City.

    Former La Salle playmaker Chie Saet displayed 25 excellent sets on top of six points to lead the HD Spikers to their third straight win.

    “We relaxed a bit in the third set. We had a lot of errors. But we were able to regain our composure in the fourth set,” said Saet.

    Opposite hitter Jovelyn Gonzaga topscored for the HD Spikers with 18 points while open spiker Rachel Anne Daquis contributed 16 hits including two crucial points down the stretch.

    Honey Royse Tubino chipped in 15 markers including 14 attacks for the HD Spikers, who nailed 59 kills compared to the Cargo Movers’ 42.

    Cignal also scored nine aces but F2 Logistics got 12 blocks against HD Spikers’ five.

    The HD Spikers got the top seeding in Pool A with a clean 3-0 mark.

    Reigning UAAP Most Valuable Player Majoy Baron was the only player who scored in double figures for the Cargo Movers, nailing 14 hits.

    Former UAAP Finals MVP Kim Dy settled for nine markers while wing spikers Desiree Cheng and Ara Galang were limited to eight points each.

    F2 Logistics suffered its second straight loss.
