The president of Rotary International will meet with President Benigno Aquino 3rd and Vice President Jejomar Binay during his visit to Manila beginning Thursday.
While here, Gary C.K. Huang will lead a series of events aimed to highlight the organization’s advocacy in humanitarian service.
Rotary International is the largest service organization in the world with over 1.2 million members.
Huang will be flying in from the Rotary headquarters in Evanston, Illinois.
On August 22, he will join the 10 Rotary Districts in the Philippines in the celebration of National Rotary Day by meeting with members of various Rotary Community Corps (RCC).
RCCs are community-based groups of non-Rotarians who partner with Rotary Clubs in various parts of the world to uplift their own barangays, villages and communities by implementing self-help and sustainable socio-economic programs, which are funded by grants from the Rotary Foundation.
The RCC system was institutionalized in 1986 during the term of Mat Caparas, the only Filipino to become Rotary International President.
A member of the Rotary Club of Taipei, Huang is also scheduled to dialogue with the leaders of the Makati Business Club.
