HEALTH PRODUCTS DISTRIBUTOR FACES TAX EVASION CASE

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) filed a criminal complaint before the Department of Justice against Caleb Conrad M. Edpao (EDPAO) for willful attempt to evade or Defeat Tax for 2012, 2013, and 2014; deliberate failure to file his income tax returns (ITRs) for 2012 and 2013; willful failure to supply correct and accurate information in his annual ITR for 2014; deliberate failure to file value added tax (VAT) returns for 2013 and the first two quarters of 2014; and willful failure to supply correct and accurate information in his VAT returns for the 3rd and 4th quarters of taxable year 2014, all in violation of Sections 254 and 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997, as amended (Tax Code). An independent distributor of UHS health care products under multi-level marketing system with address at Rawai 1217, Royal Residences, Brgy. Ususan, Taguig City, EDPAO is registered with the BIR as professional taxpayer. The case against EDPAO stemmed from BIR investigation of UHS Essential Health Philippines, Inc. – Philippine Branch (UHS).
