• Hearing on Palparan case delayed anew

MALOLOS CITY: The court hearing for the cases against retired Army Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan Jr. was delayed further because the new judge handling the case is on leave, the private prosecutors said. Julian Oliva, one of the private prosecutors from the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers representing the families of missing students Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeño, said they received a notice that Judge Alexander Tamayo of Malolos Regional Trial Court Branch 15 is officially excused from work until end of August. Tamayo is replacing Judge Teodora Gonzales of Branch 14 after she granted the petition of the respondents and inhibited herself from the case.
