    TOKYO: A heatwave stifled Japan on Sunday as the temperature topped 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in two cities, leaving at least four people dead over the weekend. The Japan Meteorological Agency said the temperature reached 40.6 C in Kofu, 100 kilometers (60 miles) west of Tokyo, in mid-afternoon.
