Since opening applications for the Miss World Philippines 2015 beauty pageant in late July, local organizers CQ Global Quest Inc. and ALV Productions, have noted a very encouraging turn out of young, intelligent and beautiful Filipinas aspiring for the crown.
With the Miss World secretariat still busy welcoming aspiring candidates, National Director of Miss World Philippines Cory Quirino is optimistic about a strong showing for the country at the Miss World Finals in Sanya, China on December 19.
“If we have our first Miss World in the name of Megan Young 2013, then this only serves as inspiration to aspire for the Miss World crown once again for our country,” Quirino enthused.
The future official candidates of Miss World Philippines 2015 will be privileged to have Young as official trainer and motivational speaker to prepare them for the competition.
It will be recalled the 2013 was a memorable year in pageant history. After a 63-year-long wait, the Philippines finally bagged the Miss World crown in Bali, Indonesia when Young competed against 126 candidates for the crown.
Miss World is the longest running pageant in the world having been established in 1951 in London, England by Sir Eric Morley. Today it is headed by Julia Morley under whose leadership the pageant has grown to become today as the largest pageant in the world.
It is also known as the only pageant with its very own advocacy for women and children dubbed “Beau-ty with a Purpose.”
The most recent Miss World Philippines achievements include: a first runner-up win for Gwendoline Ruais in 2011; a Top 8 finish for Queneerich Rehman in 2012; Miss World Megan Young’s triumph in 2013; and a Top 25 placing for Valerie Weigmann in 2014.
Miss World Philippines 2015 is a joint collaboration between Quirino’s CQ Global Quest Inc. and ALV Productions headed by Arnold Vegafria. For this year’s ongoing search for candidates, the general screening is scheduled on September 7, with the final screening on September 8.
