• High-ranking NPA leader falls


    RANKING New People’s Army (NPA) leader Dominiciano Muya, alias Marco and Atoy, who has a P4.8-million reward on his head, was captured recently by government forces at a checkpoint in Tagum City, Davao del Norte,  after more than a decade in hiding. Capt.
    Alberto Caber, spokesperson, Eastern Mindanao Command, said Muya was tagged in the killings of (Police Officer 1) Marito Correos and PO1 Rey Mongaya Ejercito in Bagyugan, Agusan del Sur, on June 19, 2004, and 2nd Lt. Lucresio Julampong Jr. in Bantawan, Banganga, Davao Oriental, on June 14, 2009. Military intelligence reports indicated that Muya was a former staff of the communist  Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee  and former secretary of Guerilla Front 18 of the Southern Mindanao Regional Party Committee .
