There are not too many countries in the world that can be regarded as basketball-crazy. I know Lithuania is one, and Serbia another. But I don’t know if both European countries can get as crazy as Filipinos are with regard to the sport they love the most – basketball. Talk about makeshift basketball playgrounds in almost every corner of a street, or non-stop Barangay games in open courts even during heavy downpour. Look around and you’ll find a good number of people donning a basketball jersey. Where else in the world will you find organized basketball tourneys in all levels of the sport? Lithuania and Serbia, for instance, do not have a collegiate hoops league.
