The Philippine National Police has captured the alleged gunman in the killing three years ago of a regional trial court (RTC) judge in Cagayan province. Police said the tagged triggerman, Joey Cabeza, 28, a native of Buguey town in Cagayan, was captured in the northernmost coastal town of Claveria.
On May 18, 2010, RTC Judge Andres Cipriano of Aparri town was shot by Cabeza who was caught at a relative’s house in Claveria town. According to investigators, Cipriano was set to promulgate a “controversial case” involving local politicians when he was slain. C/Insp. Rene Estabillo, the police chief of Claveria, said Cabeza was caught hiding in the ceiling of the house.
Police said the suspect, also tagged as the Cabeza gang leader, was responsible for several extortion incidents in Cagayan and was linked to the killing of a village chief in Buguey and three others several years ago.
