HK donates P10 million to Iloilo typhoon victims

In celebration of the Chinese New Year, the Hong Kong government has donated more than P10 million to the typhoon victims in northern Iloilo through the Amity Foundation, the Iloilo Chinese-Filipino Cultural Association said on Friday.

The Amity Foundation had visited the municipalities of Concepcion, Ajuy, Estancia and San Dionisio and they came back to Iloilo to continue the “Kaisa para sa Kaunlaran” relief operation, which is considered the biggest operation they conducted.

They distributed 5,000 relief packs worth P2,000 each that includes one half sack of rice, milk, slippers and other non-food items.

The Hong Kong Yacht Club also gave 120 thousand Hong Kong dollars to buy boats for the “Bangkabuhayan” project of the Amity foundation. The boats that were turned over Wednesday in Batad were worth P25,000 each.

“Ten non-government organizations have already received the relief goods and we are hoping that it is already in the hands of the victims,” said Amity Foundation’s project coordinator, Tong Su.

The Amity foundation hopes that the Ilonggos will rise again through their help.
